A drug addict who failed to learn his lesson after being jailed has been sentenced to another stint behind bars after he was caught trafficking heroin in Ħamrun.

Denis Cremona, 37, from Marsa, admitted trafficking drugs on April 16 and committing the crime within 100 metres of a place frequented by minors, in this case a school.

He was caught by officers and found to have some 13 sachets of heroin.

Magistrate Natasha Galea Scibberas took into consideration that, despite being jailed before on drug-related charges and convictions for theft, he had failed to learn his lesson.

She also noted the small amount of drugs found and sent a recommendation for him to be given the proper rehabilitation treatment.

Police Inspector Robert Vella prosecuted.
