Recently Times of Malta published news of a motorist who was fined for eating while driving – the story made the news mostly because of the funny way the ticket was issued; however, it does raise a pertinent question as to what can or can’t be done while driving.

I notice, daily, a number of drivers smoking while they are driving – I don’t see any way to differentiate between eating and smoking with regards to its effect on the driver’s attention.

While on the subject of driving safety and adhering to rules, is there a reason that the police quite often do not wear seatbelts?
