A 57-year-old Italian motorist died yesterday afternoon when he crashed into a wall after hitting a woman.

The man, who lived in Mellieħa, was driving a grey Citroen Picasso at about 2pm when the accident happened in Roman Baths Road, limits of Mġarr.

The police said he slightly hit a woman, crashed into a barrier and then into a wall.

Though no details were given, it is believed he died of natural causes and an autopsy will be held to establish the cause of death.

The woman’s medical condition is not known because she did not seek medical attention. Duty Magistrate Clare Stafrace Zammit was informed.
