Ding Junhui delighted the home fans yesterday when he booked his place in the fifth round of snooker’s Yixing Open after beating Maltese veteran Tony Drago 4-1 in China.

Drago, who had reached the fourth round after brushing aside the challenges of two China hopefuls in his previous matches – Duan Yanfeng 4-0 and Fang Xiongman 4-1 – lost the opening two frames 67-7 and 94-29 but he pulled one back in the third game, winning it 67-37.

Ding, however, potted a break of 90 in the fourth frame before another run of 50 to seal the match 4-1.
