Aston Villa have suffered a double injury setback with striker Gabriel Agbonlahor and defender Richard Dunne both set to miss the start of the season.

Agbonlahor will be out of action for four to five weeks with a medial ligament injury suffered during the pre-season tour of America, the club have confirmed.

Dunne will be sidelined for six to eight weeks with a groin setback which he sustained while in European Championship action with the Republic of Ireland.

The Dunne injury is a particular blow to new Villa boss Paul Lambert, who yesterday signed defender Ron Vlaar from Feyenoord but had off-loaded James Collins to West Ham.

Agbonlahor was looking to impress Lambert after an injury-hit 2011-2012 campaign.
