Nationalist MP Beppe Fenech Adami yesterday said he would not be intimidated after the front door of his Birkirkara office was slightly damaged by fire.

I will not be intimidated

Sources said an item – probably a piece of paper – was pinned to the door and set alight.

The damage was minimal as the wind soon extinguished the flames, leaving a scotched mark near the top of the door.

The office is situated a few metres away from the police station.

When contacted, Dr Fenech Adami said his only message to the person or people responsible was that he would not be intimidated, especially in his role as politician.

He recalled that on Monday evening he had needed to leave his office at short notice so he fixed a note to the door before he departed.

When he returned to the building on Tuesday the note was missing.

Dr Fenech Adami said he could not pinpoint anyone in particular who may have been behind the incident, adding it was “not rocket science” to presume it was politically motivated.

The police were informed about the case and are investigating.
