I refer to article ‘Don Quixote in Maltese to mark the death of Cervantes’ (February 29). The adventures of Don Quixote occurred in Catholic Spain more than 400 ago during the Catholic Inquisition.

A short version of the first book of Don Quixote in Maltese was penned in 1914 by Alfons Maria Galea.

Eighty years had to go by before the Maltese could once more taste the humorous adventures of Don Quixote in their mother language. This literary masterpiece was penned in the early 1990s and not in the early 1980s by Pawlu Montebello, as stated in the article.
