The Medical Association of Malta has threatened action unless a solution is found to a list of pending issues, among them promotions to GPs and specialists.
Despite the fact that significant progress was made at a “positive” meeting with the Health Ministry on September 15, the issues remain pending, the association said in a statement yesterday.
The association is now giving the government till October 14 to find a solution.
At an extraordinary general meeting on Monday evening, the association unanimously approved a motion to insist that the health authorities issue, without further delay, long-overdue promotions in all grades, from GP to consultant, resident specialist and higher specialist trainee.
A considerable number of issues also concern allowances which are not being paid in line with the collective agreement, according to MAM.
