The Catholic Church celebrates the feast of God’s mercy on the First Sunday after Easter. This was the express wish of Jesus to St Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun.

Today, two Popes will be canonised by Pope Francis, namely Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II – a Pole who established the feast of God’s mercy throughout the Church.
