In The Times, lately, I read more about single people than about political or social subjects of great importance. The self-staging and power struggles of a few politicians and media figures distract the people from the really important issues.

Was a journalist placed in a position by a certain party? Was there a leakage or a theft of e-mail communications? Can a minister be made responsible for absolutely everything that goes wrong? Is a journalist allowed to insinuate a conflict of interest of a politician and can the said politician attack the press in self-defence?

Austin Gatt, Lou Bondì, John Dalli, Joseph Muscat, Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando, Franco Debono, Lawrence Gonzi, these people have not understood that the country has more important things to discuss and to do than be entertained by their little quarrels.

The deficit, transport, education, economic growth and environmental protection are the subjects that should dominate the news.
