Having learnt the Maltese language grammar a few decades ago, I am, to say the least, bewildered by its distorted use today.
To my knowledge, b, d, ġ, ż are pronounced p, t, ċ, s when they are at the end of the word.
If this still holds good, why do TVM announcers insist on pronouncing these letters the hard way? And why does a behind-the-scenes announcer pronounce words with an echo at the end? These announcers make the Maltese language seem unnatural.
While on this subject, why is it that the word għaliex is being replaced by għalfejn? The first denotes reason while the second refers to scope.
