The General Workers Union has registered an industrial dispute with Arriva, warning that it may order action over changes in public holiday payment.

The union yesterday said the bus operator had informed the GWU it was changing its payment structure for public holidays, basing its decision on a Works Regulation Order for public transport.

Until March 19, Arriva was paying its employees double and giving them a day off in lieu when they work on public holidays, but drivers were now being offered either option rather than both.
