DiscountIF, a University start-up company, won second place at Excellence in iGaming Start-Up Launch Pad in Berlin. There were over 30 entries in the competition.
The company pitched its business idea to a panel of judges, who called this year’s competition “the strongest set of presentations” in the history of the competition. DiscountIF also secured 28 per cent of the audience vote.
DiscountIF chief executive Lewis Holland told the audience his company planned to rival Amazon by bringing together the worlds of gaming and retail.
“There’s not a lot of innovation in the online retail industry. There’s a lack of engagement. But we want to bring gambling mechanics into the retail industry and offer potential cashback on products bought if there is a certain outcome. We launched a few months ago in beta and have got very good engagement so far,” he said.
DiscountIF aims to make online shopping more enjoyable by connecting its products with promotions, with a chance of getting up to 100 per cent cashback.
