I would like to bring the following to the attention of the mayor of Msida:

In a printout of the Msida council’s ‘Educational talks’ sent to me about a month ago it was indicated that a talk on ‘The prevention and management of diabetes’ by Dr Mario Grixti would be given in May, and the exact date was “still to be given” to the mayor.

I phoned for information as I was particularly interested in the subject. I phoned again on May 12 and was told to phone the following day. I duly phoned on May 13 asking when the talk was going to be held. Surprisingly, I was told it had already taken place on May 11. The reason I was given was that Dr Grixti turned up unexpectedly and delivered the talk.

Presumably his lecture had a ghost audience as apparently nobody was notified – according to the council there was never a fixed date. Am I supposed to believe such an invention? Is the mayor aware of all this?

Two years ago I was asked to provide my e-mail address and mobile phone number in case I needed to be contacted, and I duly complied. However I was never contacted. In the circumstances it would been appreciated if somebody had sent me an e-mail regarding information about this interesting talk.

I am terribly disappointed. That citizens are treated with such indifference is just unacceptable.
