I have been a missionary in Brazil since 1959. I would like to congratulate the Mission Fund of Mosta for the projects developed with Maltese missionaries around the world, and particularly for its latest donation of €1,200. This money could not have been more timely, since it has helped finance our project to steer teenagers away from drugs and violence.

At our institution – Unidade Social Nossa Senhora Aparecida – we ensure that children up to the age of 14 from less advantaged social classes, together with their families, are given social, educational, spiritual and emotional support, so that they can become good citizens.

We also contribute to the creation of conditions and opportunities for children, young people and their families to fully develop their human potential as an element of their self-empowerment.

About 220 children can eat, play, learn, and be safe with us while their parents go to work.

We appeal to readers to send used stamps and donations to the Mission Fund to enable it to help missionaries in Third World countries.
