Oliver Scicluna recently assumed the role of chairman for the National Commission for Persons with Disability, following the retirement of Joseph Camilleri.

Mr Scicluna had been the deputy chairman for the past six months and was the president and founder of NGO Breaking Limits.

KNPD thanked Mr Camilleri for his work over the past 20 years, where he served under four prime ministers.

“Thanks to his work and the goodwill of many others, the disability sector in Malta made gigantic steps and today we enjoy services which up till 20 years ago would have merely been a dream,” KNPD said.

Mr Camilleri played a crucial role in the introduction of the National Policy for Inclusive Education as well as the concept of facilitators in 1994.
