I decided to write again to highlight a situation that is being ignored by local councils and also by the Environment Department, namely the state of our streets, pavements and promenades that are littered with animal excrement, especially that of dogs and horses.
I live in Marsascala and I enjoy walking every day from St Thomas Bay to the former national swimming pool and all the way back along the Marsascala promenade.
It is not enough that one has to watch one’s way while walking on the pavements because these are in a state where one can easily break one’s leg but also due to the fact that dog owners, unashamedly, take their pets for their daily walk and let them relieve themselves on other people’s doorsteps, pavements and other public areas such as promenades.
I have written about this on several occasions and also reported it to the Marsascala council but to no avail.
I am sure that this deplorable situation applies also to many other localities and I appeal to those who, like me, enjoy walking, to write to their local councils and to the Environment Department to take the necessary measures and stop these irresponsible dog owners from continuing to flout the law and pollute the environment.
