I am just wondering what it will take to stop these dirty, filthy, simple-minded people from throwing their rubbish wherever the fancy takes them? I live near a site where you can bring your bottles, plastic and papers, but to some, this is where they decide to get rid of their rubbish.

The island could be the jewel of the Mediterranean but instead... it’s just a rubbish tip- Rosaria Austin, Marsaxlokk

It’s not as if we do not have a very good refuse collection, far from it; we must have one of the best ones in Europe with a daily collection, so why are these people throwing rubbish by the roadside just anywhere and everywhere you look? Even some builders decide to use the side of the road.

This island could be the jewel of the Mediterranean but instead, because of some ignorant people, it’s just a rubbish tip. It’s about time councils put cameras up so they can catch these culprits and fine them heavily.

I know cameras are not cheap but I can assure any council that they would soon get their money back and much more from catching and fining these people, as it’s the only language they understand.

What must the tourist think of our dirty country as wherever they go all they can see is rubbish strewn all over the island? If we want our tourists to carry on visiting our island something must be done and rather sooner than later.
