Gianluca Dingli, of BRM Virtu Ferries Racing Team, had another busy programme at the Pista Sole Luna, in Vittoria, Sicily, recently as he took part in the fifth round of the 2011 Rotax Regional Championship.
Following Saturday’s practice sessions, the 100 competing dri-vers were all geared up for the races the next day as the organ-isers prepared another program-me, catering for eight different karting categories.
Dingli, 16, had an unlucky start after another competitor barged into his kart during the pole qualifiers. He began the race in fifth place but improved to third, a position he held during the 20-lap race despite another incident that saw him forfeit his starting grid position.
Team manager Mario Lena was again satisfied with Dingli’s excellent drive.
“He was unlucky to be involved in two incidents during the weekend racing but Gianluca still managed to show his potential. In-deed, occasions like these some-times help to improve one’s driving skills.”
Dingli will return to Sicily this coming weekend to race at the Kartodromo Minoa in Agrigento.
