Decisions that affect the property market should be taken on the basis of a detailed scientific study focusing on the current stock of vacant homes, the Malta Developers Association said.
The MDA was commenting after Times of Malta yesterday reported that according to the 2011 Census, half of the 72,000 empty properties are not for sale simply because they are used as summer residences.
The MDA said that in actual fact less than a quarter of the current stock of vacant properties are on the market since there is a significant number in a dilapidated state.
