Three people charged with possession of drugs had their bail deposits raised following an appeal by the Attorney General.

Erika Vella, 27, of Gżira, was arraigned on Sunday and charged with possession of cannabis resin, heroin and cocaine in amounts that denoted they were not for her personal use. She was found sorting drugs in packets when the police raided a number of stables in Marsa on Friday.

She pleaded not guilty and was granted bail against a deposit of €1,000 and a personal guarantee of €5,000. Her deposit was increased by €1,000.

Rosario Cortis, 31, of Qormi and Carmel Muscat, 40, of Rabat, who were arrested during the same search, were also granted bail on Sunday after they pleaded not guilty to possession of heroin and cocaine that was not for their personal use. Mr Muscat also pleaded not guilty to relapsing.

They were granted bail against a deposit of €1,000 and a personal guarantee of €4,000 each. Mr Cortis’s deposit has now been increased by €1,000 and Mr Muscat’s by €2,000.
