Denmark sprang a surprise as they beat 2010 World Cup finalists Holland 1-0 in their Euro 2012 Group B match here on Saturday to avenge their opening group match defeat in the 2010 World Cup.

Michael Krohn-Dehli broke the deadlock in superb style in the 24th minute as he sent both Dutch captain Mark van Bommel and John Heitinga the wrong way and his left-footed shot went between goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg’s legs.

The Dutch - who won this title in 1988 - hit back with Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben hitting the post in the 36th minute.

The second match in the ‘Group of Death’ kick-off in Lviv, Ukraine, between Euro 2008 finalists Germany and Portugal.
