Deloitte Malta is to participate in a Deloitte US initiative known as the ‘International Core of Excellence’ programme. As part of this programme Deloitte Malta will permanently relocate Astrid Vroom, an experienced senior manager within its international tax practice to New York to form part of an integrated team that will provide tax advice to US multinationals seeking to do business overseas.

The participation of Deloitte Malta in this programme will enable US multinationals to directly interact with an international tax specialist based in the US who fully understands the Malta tax system and how this interfaces with the US tax system.

During her five years with Deloitte Malta Ms Vroom has gained considerable experience in international tax matters concerning Malta and has worked across a wide range of industry sectors. As the opportunities for US multinationals to use Malta as a regional hub increase, Deloitte Malta sees this initiative as a logical step forward and essential in facilitating transactions between the various jurisdictions.

Conrad Cassar Torregiani, leader of the international tax practice at Deloitte Malta said: “We are excited about this development which is an opportunity for Malta to be at the forefront of US investment and growth in this region. Deloitte Malta has a leading international tax practice and it is investments such as this that allow us to be at the forefront of new opportunities for Malta”.
