The 11th edition of the Delicata Classic Wine Festival kicked off at the beautifully lit Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta last Thursday. The festival inaugurates the beginning of the grape harvest.

The Crowns opened the festival, while the Spiteri Lucas Band performed on Friday and the Big Band Brothers entertained guests yesterday.

George “il-Pusé” Curmi and his band will today wind up the festival.

During the four-day event, patrons were able to taste a total of 23 wines, while a number of food stalls offering various delicacies were set up. A fully-seated restaurant was also in place at the Saluting Battery area.

The festival today opens at 7 p.m., while entertainment begins at 8 p.m. The last wine glasses will be sold at 11 p.m. with the last wines poured at 11.30 p.m. before the festival closes at midnight.

Entrance is free. Those wanting to drink wine need to buy a souvenir glass and present it at any stand of their choice.

Guests are encouraged to enjoy their wine in moderation and not to drink and drive, while those under the age of 17 will not be served wine.

A similar Delicata Classic Wine Festival will be held in Nadur between August 31 and September 2.
