I read with interest the excellent editorial Reforms Menu For Restaurants’ Industry (June 6) and the many salient points raised regarding this industry.

However, one pivotal cause as to the decline in restaurant visitor numbers that was not touched upon, and which I would suggest is in direct correlation to such a decrease in numbers, is the advent of the hotel industry’s all inclusive occupancy basis policy for tourists. Undoubtedly, such a policy has a massively negative impact on the large numbers of people ‘eating out’ - so to speak - and also impacts on bar owners as well
