The next round of races from the ASMK National Championship will be a special edition as the series will be held in the evening at the circuit in Ta’ Qali.
Interest is likely to reach its peak on Saturday as the Motocross championship will come to a close. The Class A champion will be one from brothers Kyle and Clayton Camilleri, both riding a KTM motorcycle.
At present, Clayton is leading the standings with 258 points with younger Camilleri sibling Kyle trailing behind on 241 points.
Paul Muscat, also on a KTM, is a distant third with 144 points. He has no chance of catching up with the leading duo in the standings.
The Class B and Open Class winner is already known as Gozo rider Mario Cauchi (Honda) dominated the season to make sure of a double.
Cauchi, unbeaten in the championship, leads Class B with 307 points. He is followed by Etienne Bigeni (Honda), 197, and Jorn Stellini (Kawasaki), 177.
The fight for second place in the Open Class looks tighter as Bigeni (84 points) starts the last race enjoying a slight lead over third-placed Kyle Camilleri (83).
Paul Muscat (75) follows in fourth position.
Meanwhile, the titles in Autocross Class A and B have already been assigned as Christian Mark Galea (Fiat Ritmo) and Joseph Micallef (Opel Corsa) made sure of the respective titles with a couple of races to spare.
Despite a third placing in his previous race, Christian Mark Galea (Fiat Ritmo) remains firmly on top of the Autocross Modified standings.
With two rounds to go, Galea is the favourite for the national title thanks to the 206 points he has accumulated so far. Malcolm Borg (Opel) Corsa follows in second place with 150 points.
Deane Farrugia (Citroen AX) is heading the Autocross Standard leaderboard on 54 points.
Farrugia’s nearest pursuers are Traydon Bailey (Ford Ka), with 42 points, Ian Fenech (Citroen AX), 41, and Gozitan Johann Vella (Opel Nova), 30.
On Saturday, the first races from the Motocross Championship start at 4.30pm with the rounds from the Autocross series to follow until late in the evening.
