A relatively new name on the local music scene, rock band Fuse Box features seasoned musicians with some 12 years’ of songwriting experience to their name.

As the name reflects, Fuse Box is a mix of musical influences, drawing as much from the harder edge of rock as it does from the more mainstream side of the spectrum.

The band was originally formed early last year by former Sidereal and Six Point Circle guitarist Demis Fenech and keyboardist David Grech, with the line-up being completed with the arrival of ex-Rising Sunset drummer Antoine Ferrito, Clive Scerri on bass and Graziana Axisa on vocals.

The band played its debut gig at Rookies last month, unveiling its fusion of funk, blues and rock to an enthusiastic crowd. With a couple more gigs under its belt, the band recently finished its first recording, Shallow Waters, which is soon to be released as its debut radio single.

A mid-tempo number reflecting various aspects of the band’s collective musical mindset, the song has a flowing melody that is neither immediate nor forgettable, but possesses adequate mainstream appeal to infiltrate the local airwaves. It also embodies what the band describes as a “no-limit mentality” in terms of experimenting with new sounds and creative songwriting.

Fuse Box will perform at the Nuts MC Mayday event at Żonqor Point, Marsascala, on May 1, and at the Beland Music Festival on May 15.
