Chances are you’ve already caught wind of the notorious debut single from the Maltese music scene’s latest addition, Baron Bubblebeef.

His name suggests a novelty act at play, the song’s title, Jennifer’s Dead, not so much, but the one sure thing about the song is that it is aimed directly at firing up the dancefloor.

Fuelled by a frenetic Ska rhythm, the single packs an incredibly infectious hook that refuses to go away even after the song has stopped playing.

Every so often a song comes along that changes everything, at least according to the official press release from the barmy baron, and given its debatable topic and high-octane groove, it might just do that.

Penned by the baron himself with music and arrangements by UK-based Peter Minarik and Suzi Burgerova, Jennifer’s Dead was recorded near London earlier this year.

Speaking about the song’s topic, the baron said “it’s a mad, offbeat love song that happens to be about a dead person”. And to paint a clearer picture, the baron has also released an accompanying music video for the single, bringing together some of the elite of Malta’s artistic community.

The single and music video were launched earlier this month at Café Barrakka in Valletta. Jennifer’s Dead is available on iTunes, while the radio edit can be heard on the more risqué local stations. Find out more about the Baron at www.baronbubblebeef.com.
