One can understand Anton Critien’s frustration (July 31) and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience.

The case to which Mr Critien is referring occurs because of a series of circumstances which I would like to explain. The pole shown in the picture is erected before the previous building is demolished, meaning the pole in question is only a temporary solution. Through the Malta Environment and Planning Authority, the developer is requested to prepare a culvert for the cables, so these can be fixed underground. It is very hard for Enemalta Corporation to keep track of every single development and, following normal procedures, it is the developer who contacts Enemalta so the works can be completed.

Unfortunately, this process is not as plain sailing as one might think because some tenants would prefer

the refixing of brackets so that the overhead line can continue uninterrupted while others would insist on retaining the pole. Besides, Enemalta needs to be aware of the completion of the building otherwise it cannot take action.

Now that we are aware of this case we are contacting the developer to discuss the way forward.

In the meantime, we checked all the e-mail addresses available on our website and both customercare.emc@enemalta.com.mt and customercare.arms@arms.com.mt are functioning correctly, together with the Let Us Know section, which gives the customer the possibility to send a message through an online form. In such cases, we are more than happy to help and anyone who would like to get in touch can do so by e-mailing us at the addresses mentioned above or call freephone 8007 2224.
