On June 29 I watched The Audience at the cinema of St John’s Cavalier. We were a mixture of people over 70s (including one VIP who is 90 but still drives his car) and youngsters in their 30s and 40s. All of us enjoyed Helen Mirren’s portrayal of the Queen but at 10.30pm when we were exiting the place ‘we were not amused’. We walked to the exit which was down those long stairs; they are not steep but there are no handrails.

An attendant was at the bottom waiting to close the door. A few of us tried to use the lift down but all the doors seemed closed. The only way out seemed to be down those dangerous stairs.

Fortunately for me there was a strong young man and I asked him to take his arm to go down. Thank you again gentleman, I hope you are reading this letter. Even though I was not wearing high heels I was afraid of slipping on the shiny stairs or of losing my balance. Can sturdy handrails be installed on both sides, please?
