When I turned 80+, I started using a stick because I lose balance when I walk. I’m not complaining, on the contrary, I almost feel privileged.

Often, I am pleasantly surprised at people’s attention and graciousness when I meet them on a pavement or on the bus. They go out of their way to please. I feel confused and embarrassed when a lady older than me gets up to offer me her seat. I would like to thank these kind and considerate people.

The only complaint I would like to make is about the bad state of some of the pavements in San Ġwann. Pavements nowadays seem to be built with garages in mind. The number of ramps of all sorts can be very confusing and dangerous for people like me, those who use a wheelchair or with a pushchair who would have to walk on the road.

The local council should see to this nuisance as well as to the bad state of some of the pavements.
