Many of the pavements around the St Julian’s area are very dangerous and need urgent attention. The pavement running alongside Spinola Park, near the Portomaso circle, is particularly dangerous, especially at night.

Three evenings ago, my 67-year-old husband stepped into a deep tree-less planter, hurting himself. He was very lucky not to have broken a bone in his fall.

There are two deep planters with no trees and can, therefore, easily be missed while walking (photo).

Also, the smooth pavements around the Portomaso and Arcadia Shopping Arcade areas are very slippery, especially when wet, and I’ve seen near-accidents on numerous occasions.

These are highly populated areas, especially with tourists, and a bad fall can have life-changing repercussions. It is a matter of urgency that the empty tree planters be attended to as soon as possible.
