World-renowned tenor Joseph Calleja gave a different kind of performance earlier this week when he was picked as one of the punters during MADC’s pantomime The Wizard of Oz.

More used to singing at the London Proms, Mr Calleja and two other audience members at the MFCC were marched on to the stage by dame Alan Montanaro and dressed in a ballerina’s tutu after being coerced into doing a pirouette.

Mr Calleja is this month playing to packed houses around Europe in support of his album Be My Love: A Tribute to Mario Lanza.
