This year’s Lifecycle Challenge, to take place next month in Zambia, will see a team of Maltese cyclists face the elements in a long-distance ride. Covering around 2,000km in merely 10 days, the challenge is considered to be one of the most demanding endurance events in Europe.
77 Great Estates will be co-sponsoring the event.
The Lifecycle organisation was founded in 1999 to create awareness and generate support for patients suffering from renal disease. Since its foundation, the company has organised the LifeCycle Challenge annually during the summer months with the intention of increasing awareness about the disease, raising funds for high-tech equipment necessary to upgrade the Renal Unit at Mater Dei Hospital and also to increase the quality of life of renal disease patients by allowing them access to cutting-edge levels of care.
Throughout the years, the organisation has been able to raise a considerable sum of money, helping the government to cover an approximate €25,000 annually per patient and donate a significant amount of items to the unit to help patients in Malta, including several kidney machines, ultrasound machines and monetary donations for research, as well as organising pilgrimages and outings for patients and staff.
Dr Carl Peralta, founder and director of 77 Great Estates, said: “We fully support this initiative and are delighted to be a part it.”
