Two customs officers have been cleared of stealing shoes from a warehouse 11 years ago due to lack of proof.

Amabile Grech, 41, of Marsaxlokk, and Emanuel Atttard, 46, from Luqa, were accused of stealing sports shoes and other items on May 13, 2001 from a Ħal Far warehouse belonging to Advance Shipping Agency Limited.

CCTV footage showed three people leaving the warehouse with items, but it did not identify the accused, said Magistrate Doreen Clarke.

Neither was it proved the stolen items were the same as those found in the defendants’ possession. Lawyers Edward Gatt and Michael Schiriha appeared for the accused.
