I am a long-term internet access customer of Go. While over the years I have been generally satisfied with the service, some aspects are very irritating to customers, and I suggest that action be taken.

It was recently reported that Melita has the fastest connections in Malta and also offers unlimited downloads, which means other Go customers like myself will probably consider a switch.

My main issues are two. The first is the inability to reach the internet download speed promised in the package. Go’s technicians have concluded that the area I live in still has an old telephone line system that does not allow higher speeds. Several years have passed since I first noticed this problem and the lines have apparently not been changed yet, as promised.

The second, which I find more irritating, is the data download threshold system Go has in place on internet accounts.

It works by setting a limit of GB you can download every month. My problem with this is that no warning system is in place to alert you that you are approaching the threshold, which would be of help to better regulate our usage and not inadvertently reach the limit. Reaching the limit means you will have to pay for upgrades through the nose.

The price of download upgrades is ridiculous. A monthly package with a 100 GB download limitcosts €12.

Now if you reach the 100 GB limit, you will have to purchase 1 GB upgrades for €3.49. This is an increase of more than 340 per cent for each GB, which is nothing short of daylight robbery.

While I understand that Go is free to price their upgrades as it wishes, I think such prices for upgrades are not fair on the customer.

Considering some of Go’scompetitors are offering unlimited downloads, as a loyal Go customer I would really appreciate it ifthe issues I have outlined are addressed.
