Following a successful cross-genre gig with Stolen Creep last December, contemporary jazz trio Cusp will be giving its first live performances for 2013 when it takes the stage at the St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity’s Music Room on March 1 and 2.

The performances will feature new compositions and arrangements covering a variety of styles, among them tracks that will eventually also feature on the band’s upcoming EP. Recording will start next month.

Meanwhile, the band is keeping busy working on more original material and possibly a couple of jazz standards arranged especially for the EP. The idea behind it all, according to the band, remains steadfastly focused on keeping its own sound intact while applying a contemporary touch to the music.

Tickets are available online or from St James Cavalier. For more information, look up the Cusp Live event pages on Facebook.
