Apparently Karl Consiglio (Natural Or Adopted, October 25) does not realise the extent to which certain members of our society can go to insult people and bully children.
The Maltese proverb says it all: They will insult you with what you have and with what you don’t.
I would not like to be in the shoes of a young man who, when seen approaching by his peers, hears the insulting phrase “here comes the son of those p.....”
That is why I am not in favour of children being adopted by gays.
I am all out for them to have their rights but to throw children in that mess is simply cruel. I well know the country where I live and its people.
As for lesbians adopting or going to a sperm bank to have a baby and satisfy their motherly instinct, the story is different because so many children are being born to single mothers that it does not really make a difference.
Of course the members of the board that looks after adoption are not fools. They will, I am sure, put the interest of the child first and foremost.
