On Saturday, Marsa CC took on Dutch team SGS Holland and not Quick as stated previously.

The locals won the toss and elected to bat first.

Cousins Sunny and Adam Krishna opened the innings. The former, who is developing into one of the most exciting batsmen to watch, scored a quick-fire 20 runs which included three 4s from 21 balls faced, before being LBW.

In came Malcolm Crabbe who also wanted to show that he can manage a run-a-ball rate. He proved his point with a superb innings of 92 from 90 balls (highest individual score against a touring team this year).

Crabbe scored ten 4s along the way as the Crabbe-Krishna part-nership of 125 was also the highest this year. Interestingly enough, Crabbe was also involved in the previous highest partnership – a 101 with Joy Ghoseroy.

Javed Shah added ten runs and John Grima 14. Adam Krishna was not out in the 40 overs.

Krishan played a supportive role to the other batsmen and made his first 50 along the way and completed the day with 59 runs as Marsa totalled 209.

For the Dutch team, A. Tomlinson, J. Vriezen and B. De Gary Fortman were the wicket-takers.

Vriezen took the key wicket of Crabbe, denying him a century.

In their reply, SGS Holland had an early collapse and lost their top three wickets, W. Heaklots, R. Kennyshoqs and H.V.D Horst, for three runs.

But their batting then picked up with, RVD hitting 27 runs, Vriezen 32 and Mohamd top-scoring with a 50 as Straule chipped in with 37 runs.

The tourists gave their all but only managed 184 in the end.

For Marsa, Kevin Krishna was the main wicket-taker with three.
