Sliema councillors led by example yesterday as they rolled up their sleeves and started sweeping the town. Armed with brooms and dusters, the new council embarked on the first day of the campaign ‘Let’s be smart, Tas-Sliema bla skart’ (Sliema without rubbish).

Taking the cue from the councillors, a number of residents joined in the effort, though there were complaints about the number of parking spaces sacrificed for the initiative. The campaign is being undertaken in collaboration with the Rural Affairs Ministry and Green MT.
