When the Sette Giugnio Monument was moved from St George’s Square in Valletta to a spot near the gardener’s latrine in Hastings everybody was disgusted and disturbed.

A few months later and people seem to have forgotten about this monument that represents what we are not today, a courageous and daring society. We have become a bunch of couch potatoes.

And while you are sitting pretty watching TV or reading The Times online, have a look at the sorry state of this monument and reflect on what we have become!
