The 2,500 cataract surgical interventions at St James Capua and St Anne’s Clinic contracted to be carried out in the first year on behalf of the government will cost a total of €662,500, Health Minister Joseph Cassar said in Parliament.

He told Labour MP Michael Farrugia in reply to a question that the hospital and clinic had been selected on the basis of expressions of interest.

St James Capua is contracted for 1,500 operations a year and St Anne’s for 1,000.
