Mepa appointed a technical committee to draw up a burial methods policy, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat told Ryan Callus (PN) in reply to two parliamentary questions.

The policy was opened for public consultation until June 6, to allow anyone interested to make technical and other suggestions.

Alternative methods in use overseas were mentioned in the document, which also referred to methods that could be developed in future.

Dr Muscat said it was definitely not within the scope of the policy to impose the introduction of any particular method.
