After reading comments by Michael Falzon on behalf of the Malta Developers Association, it must be noted that various commentators were right to criticise certain developments for being substandard.

However, one must not confuse things and classify all developments as being of the same poor level. Over the past years, there have been various world-class residential projects built in Malta, most of which have served to improve the “Malta” product as well as help bring over foreigners to reside in Malta.

I would strongly urge the government to reactivate the property scheme for foreigners as the all-important construction and property sector in Malta badly needs a kick-start and I am afraid that this scheme’s suspension, coupled with the Libya crisis, are about to lead to the loss of various jobs in the economy, a lot of them among professionals.
