There is chaos at the top of St George’s Road in St Julian’s whenever an Arriva bus stops to take on or drop off passengers.

The traffic coming up the hill from Spinola Bay gets blocked at the roundabout where St George’s Road intersects with Ross Street, with the traffic congestion made far worse whenever buses stop at the other Arriva Ross bus stop towards Sliema.

At times, it takes between 15 and 20 minutes to drive a mere 500 metres from Pender Gardens to the Wembley garage.

The sorry fact is that – in both directions – there are other bus stops a short distance away and if these two bus stops are eliminated, the congestion would be reduced without any serious discomfort to Arriva bus users.

It seems that this has been brought to the attention of Transport Malta. Yet, for some reason, no action has been taken to date. Has it has fallen on deaf ears?
