Challenges facing in-house legal teams will be the focus of Lead Events’ specialised conference, Legal Team 2012, at the Chamber of Commerce, Valletta, on June 13.

The conference is aimed at senior company executives, in-house lawyers and legal advisers, consultants, and students.

Julia Chain, managing partner of Huron Consulting in the UK, will give the keynote presentation on ‘Managing legal risks across the business’. Dr Chain has over 25 years’ experience in legal and management roles in private practice and in industry. She advises in-house legal departments and law firms on a range of issues, from organisation, design, operation and strategy to leadership development and coaching.

“This is the first time we are organising an event specifically targeted at legal teams and we have been pleasantly surprised with the positive response this has provoked,” Lead Events managing director James Grech said.

Chamber of Advocates president Reuben Balzan will give an introductory address on the role of in-house lawyers. Other speakers include Gordon Cordina who will address the major drivers of the economy over the next five years as set out in Malta’s National Reform Programme within the changing EU and global setting, and Theresienne Mifsud, head of legal and regulatory affairs at Melita plc.

After a networking lunch, Celebrity Events Malta will be conducting an energiser session and Achieve Business Consultancy and Training partner Malcolm Naudi will give a presentation on a new Franklin Covey training solution, ‘The five choices to extraordinary productivity’.

Justice Minister Chris Said will close the event.
