I refer to the letter Not So Green After All (January 10). Wirt Għawdex would like to confirm that, contrary to what was stated, the lights installed at the Sta Cecilia chapel are indeed in complete compliance with the specs of the project.

The Halide lights installed are energy saving, 70W lights (and not 150W as wrongly stated in Peter Cutajar’s letter). While LED lights might be more energy efficient they are not suitable for lighting up the perimeter of buildings.

As to Mr Cutajar’s comments about eco-Gozo’s control of the funds handed out, we again assure him that there were regular follow-up checks and controls on the use of the funds throughout the project (these lights were just a small part of it). A final audit by an outside firm found us in complete compliance with every aspect of the project. Funds would otherwise not have been released.

We hope this removes any doubts about the good work done on this chapel which has now been completely restored thanks to the eco-Gozo funding.
