Lithuania will adopt the euro on January 1, 2015, replacing its national currency, the litas, with the single currency. All central banks in the eurozone, including the Central Bank of Malta, will exchange, without charge, litas banknotes for euro during January and February 2015.

Litas banknotes may be exchanged from January 2 to February 27 at the Central Bank of Malta Annexe at St James’s Counterguard, Valletta, from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 1pm. Banknotes will be exchanged at the conversion rate of €1=LTL 3.45280 up to a limit of €1,000 for any transaction on any one day.

Maltese books from Miller

Local publishers Miller have issued six Geronimo Stilton adventure books in Maltese.

These bestselling children’s books are narrated by Geronimo Stilton, a mouse from New Mouse City in Mouse Island. The books are intended for readers aged between six and 12.

The Walking Dead on Melita OnDemand

Melita, in association with Fox, is making all episodes from the first four seasons of the US hit series The Walking Dead available on its OnDemand! service for free to all Entertainment Pack customers. All 51 episodes from seasons one to four will be available until ­January 4.

Award-winning The Walking Dead premiered its fifth season in the US in October 2014 and is broadcast every Monday at 9.30pm on Fox.

Cake Box opens in Mosta

CaterEssence has opened its second cake shop, The Cake Box in Mosta, offering a variety of pastries and cakes baked in-house by the CaterEssence pastry team.

The Cake Box has been rapidly growing since the opening of its first outlet at The Landmark in Qormi. The newly opened pastry outlet, located opposite the Mosta Dome, is managed and operated by CaterEssence, part of Vassallo Group.
