Air Malta together with Sky Gourmet will be assisting the Malta Community Chest Fund during November and December. During these months, Air Malta cabin crew will be collecting funds on board the airline’s flights towards this cause.

The MCCF organises several annual events to raise funds. These include the Ball of the August Moon, a Fine Arts Auction, the President’s Fun Run, a Piggy Bank campaign among schoolchildren, Rockestra, Paqpaqli għall-Istrina, the President’s Bike Ride, fashion shows and L-Istrina. This year, several activities were organised for the first time under the new Presidency. These included Il-Festa at San Anton Palace, the President’s Ball in Gozo and fund-raising activities organised by associations.

Medserv plc supports Puttinu’s latest project

Medserv is sponsoring an initiative by Puttinu Cares to install Maltese TV stations in its London apartments. Puttinu Cares owns 16 apartments near the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton, which hundreds of families make use of, free of charge. Around 55 families travel for treatment in 40 different hospitals in the UK each month. These patients spend weeks, months and even years abroad receiving treatment.

The Sutton project entailed an investment of €3.4 million which was envisaged to be paid over 10 years. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the public, the foundation managed to settle payment in fill in just three years. This led the foundation to consider a new project for other apartments in central London close to other hospitals.

Puttinu Cares is looking at places around Putney, Clapham Junction or Battersea within reach of main line stations and calculate that to solve the problem of accommodation for the Maltese population they need around 20 studio apartments in all.
