The Westin Dragonara Resort is holding an open weekend at The Westin Workout Fitness Studio on October 11 and 12 between 7am and 9pm.

Guests can use all the facilities for free. These include the indoor swimming pool, saunas, steam rooms and the Fitness Studio featuring cardio machines, such as treadmills and stationary bikes, as well as free weights and strength-training machines.

In addition, a number of aerobic classes from spinning, conditioning and yoga to strength exercises will be held on both days.

The fitness studio will also be introducing its new Westin Piloxing aerobic class, a workout combining high-intensity boxing and Pilates.

Temperature-controlled cargo from Emirates

Emirates SkyCargo has launched a cost-effective container that keeps temperature-sensitive cargo cool when transported on the ground and in the air.

Called the White Container, it is the latest addition to Emirates SkyCargo’s Cool Chain portfolio, and has been designed as an intermediate temperature-control solution ideal for generic healthcare products and food perishables.

“After two years of intensive research and development by our team, we are introducing a new cool chain offering to the air freight market. We are the only air cargo operator to offer this specific solution, and along with our other offerings such as active temperature-controlled containers, warehouses, cool dollies and white covers, we are at the forefront in offering a comprehensive portfolio of cool chain solutions for all types of time and temperature sensitive cargo,” said Moaza Al Falahi, Emirates vice president cargo product development and local affairs.

Eurosport student discount card unveiled

Sports retailer Eurosport has unveiled a card tailored for those attending post-secondary institutions aged between 16 and 25.

The Eurosport student card gives exclusive offers on all sportswear and gym equipment over the next two scholastic years.

Students can collect their student card until Wednesday from freshers’ packs handed out to students during the University of Malta Freshers’ Week.

Students attending Junior College, Mcast and other post-secondary institutions can also collect their cards from Eurosport’s main outlet in Birkirkara.

A special student discount of 25 per cent will be given to all those in possession of an active Eurosport student card until October 11. Meanwhile, a 15 per cent discount on clothing items and 10 per cent discount on gym equipment and accessories will remain available until August 2016.

To be eligible for discounts, students are asked to activate their Eurosport student card by visiting the outlet’s Facebook page, filling in the required details and submitting their entry. The card can be used from all Eurosport, Adidas, Reebok and Skechers stores.

Icon help firms tap funds

Software development firm Icon is offering free consultation sessions to companies that wish to explore the MicroInvest scheme.

The incentive is in the form of a tax credit equivalent to 45 per cent of all eligible expenditure. An additional bonus of 20 per cent applies to undertakings operating in Gozo.

Some of the services offered by Icon and supported by MicroInvest are the creation and expansion of all kinds of software development projects including the production, development and enhancement of any software application, the creation of websites and mobile applications.

The MicroInvest scheme will be open until December 31, 2020.
